Capturing the Alaria Chamber Ensemble in Rehearsal

As a photographer, there's something truly magical about capturing the essence of musical performance during its rehearsal. Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph the Alaria Chamber Ensemble at Weill Recital Hall as they prepared for their upcoming concert. Comprised of an immensely talented group of musicians - Yuri Vodovoz (Violin), Tzu-En Lee (Viola), Suren Bagratuni (Cello), Shani Schecter (Violin), and David Oei (Piano) - the ensemble masterfully executed a captivating program.

The ensemble performed Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 1, Op. 8, Glière’s Selections from Eight Pieces, Op. 39, and Brahms’ Piano Quintet. The intimate setting of Weill Recital Hall provided a stunning backdrop for the photographs, emphasizing the passion and dedication of the musicians. The rehearsal allowed me to capture candid moments of concentration, camaraderie, and even laughter, offering a glimpse into the dynamic between these accomplished artists as they fine-tuned their craft.

The Alaria Chamber Ensemble's commitment to excellence and their profound love for music was evident throughout the rehearsal. As a photographer, it was a privilege to document these fleeting, yet powerful moments of artistic collaboration.
